    This was our family's first rock tumbler. The construction and quality seems very good. We were able to get started right away after a short search up the hill for suitable rocks.

    It is not as big of a barrel as I would have liked. PLus; the outside of the container gets very hot to the touch. But it does seem to take only 2 days...Read complete review

      I live on a creek and collect stones. I figured to polish some up and use them for gifts for my grandkids. I read the instructions, loaded the tumbler and let it go about 4:30 in the afternoon. I checked several times in the evening and it was going fine. In the morning the tumbler had stopped turning. The motor was still going, but the rods that turned the tumbler turned freely with no drive from the motor. It's going back and I'm trying again. Hope this was a fluke.

            My daughter and I collected rocks on our summer vacation, and used this item to tumble them. I had initially bought a children's rock tumbler, but it only had a 1/2# capacity - with the month long process, it would have taken too long to finish polishing our rock collection. The Lortone 3A is easy to use, came with all of the necessary polishing grit, and we saw results the first day (of the initial 7 day process). Great product!

            This appears to be a good beginner's rock-tumbler. It comes with the instructions necessary to get off to a good start. However, it is very difficult to open the tumbling-cylinder (I am a mid-forty old male in good shape who does most of the jobs around the house and is "hands-on"). There must be a better way to create a tumbling-cylinder that seals well and is more easily opened.
