The Lortone 33B Rotary Rock Tumbler Kit is a versatile and handy unit. The double-barrel design lets you use abrasives in one while you polish in the other. You can also use it in single-barrel mode. This kit comes with pre-measured abrasive grits (#80/coarse, 220/medium, and 600 pre-polish), plus the Micro Alumina polishing compound and 4 ounces of plastic pellets, enough to finish 8-10 pounds of beautiful gems. It's easy to use, even for a beginner, but produces beautiful results like a professional machine. Complete instruction guide included. Each molded-rubber barrel has a 3-pound capacity for a total of 6 pounds, perfect for polishing rocks, jewelry, glass or beads. First of all, the shipping was superfast!
I purchased the dual barrel tumbler (3lbs capacity each), as I want to tumble shards of art glass, ceramic dishes, and metal jewelry. So far I'm tumbling the glass, which seems to polish much more quickly than rocks.
The tumbler is much more quiet than I anticipated it would be. The rubber lining muffles a lot of noise. I'm presently running it in the kitchen.
The barrels are easy for me (female) to open and close.
Overall, I'm very pleased so far!
